Search & Filters

Finding What You Need

EUnify's search system helps you quickly find universities, programs, cities, and countries across the EU. Combined with powerful filters, you can narrow down options to exactly what you're looking for.

Using Search

Accessing Search

• Tap the search bar at the top of the Explore tab
• Use Spotlight search on iOS to search directly
• On iPad, press Cmd + F from anywhere

Search Types

Search can find:

• Institutions: Universities, colleges, research institutions
• Programs: Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programs
• Cities: Student cities across Europe
• Countries: EU member states

Search Tips

• Start typing to see instant suggestions
• Use full names or abbreviations ("TUM" or "Technical University of Munich")
• Search in English or the local language
• Search by program field ("Computer Science", "Medicine")

Search Results

Results are organized by type:

• Institutions tab: Matching universities and colleges
• Programs tab: Matching academic programs
• Cities tab: Matching cities
• Countries tab: Matching countries

Tap any result to view its full details.

Filters

Filters help you narrow down the map view and search results:

Available Filters

Applying Filters

1. Open Filters
   Tap the filter icon next to the search bar.
2. Select Criteria
   Choose options from each filter category. Multiple selections act as "OR" within a category.
3. Apply
   Tap "Apply Filters" to update the view.
4. Clear
   Tap "Clear All" to remove all filters and show everything.

Filter Behavior

• Persist: Filters remain active until you clear them
• Visual indicator: A badge shows when filters are active
• Count update: See how many results match your filters

Advanced Search

Search Scopes

Narrow your search to specific types:

1. Open search
2. Tap the scope selector below the search bar
3. Choose: All, Institutions, Programs, Cities, or Countries
4. Type your query

Search Within Results

On institution detail pages, you can search within:

• Programs offered by that institution
• Faculties and departments
• Campus facilities

Personalized Suggestions

If you've completed your profile, search suggestions are personalized:

• Programs matching your interests appear first
• Cities within your budget are highlighted
• Institutions matching your academic background are prioritized

Offline Search

Search works completely offline. All institution, program, and city data is stored on your device, so you can research anywhere without an internet connection.
