Why Compare?

Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions you'll make. The Compare feature helps you evaluate your options objectively by placing institutions, programs, cities, or countries side-by-side.

Comparison Types

EUnify supports four types of comparisons:

Institution Comparison

Compare universities and colleges directly. See differences in:

  • Student population and international percentage
  • Tuition fees for EU and non-EU students
  • Rankings (QS, THE when available)
  • Founded year and institutional type
  • Notable alumni and faculty
  • Research focus areas

Program Comparison

Compare specific academic programs:

  • Program duration and structure
  • Language of instruction
  • Admission requirements
  • Tuition and fees
  • Career outcomes

City Comparison

Compare student cities:

  • Cost of living breakdown
  • Average rent prices
  • Public transport quality
  • Safety index
  • Student life and culture
  • Climate information

Country Comparison

Compare EU member states:

  • Higher education system overview
  • Average tuition fees
  • Student visa requirements
  • Work rights for students
  • Healthcare access

Reading the Comparison Matrix

The comparison matrix displays:

  • Headers: Your selected items at the top
  • Metric rows: Each row shows one metric across all items
  • Visual indicators: Color coding highlights best/worst values
  • Charts: Visual graphs for numeric comparisons

Understanding Visual Indicators

  • Green: Generally favorable (lower costs, higher rankings)
  • Yellow: Neutral or average
  • Red: May need attention (higher costs, missing data)

Tips for Effective Comparison

  • Compare similar programs: A Master's in one institution vs. another
  • Consider total cost: Tuition + living expenses in the city
  • Look beyond rankings: Culture fit and program specifics matter too
  • Save multiple comparisons: Compare at different levels (institution, city, etc.)
Verify Information: Always confirm fees, deadlines, and requirements with official university sources before applying.
