Using the Explore Map

The Interactive Map

The Explore tab features an interactive map of Europe showing universities, colleges, and cities. This is your primary tool for discovering higher education opportunities across the EU.

Map Controls

Zooming

• Pinch: Use two fingers to zoom in or out
• Double-tap: Quickly zoom in on a location
• Two-finger tap: Zoom out

Panning

• Drag with one finger to move around the map
• Use momentum scrolling for faster navigation

Rotating

• Use two fingers to rotate the map perspective
• Tap the compass icon to reset to north

Map Markers

Different markers represent different types of locations:

• University markers: Individual institutions
• City markers: Major student cities
• Clustered markers: Groups of nearby institutions (tap to expand)

Interacting with Markers

1. Tap a Marker
   A preview card appears showing the institution or city name, quick stats, and options.
2. View Details
   Tap the preview card to open the full detail view with programs, tours, and more.
3. Quick Actions
   Long-press a marker to add it to your comparison or start a checklist.

Floating Search Bar

The search bar floats at the top of the map. Use it to:

• Search for specific universities by name
• Find programs across all institutions
• Jump to cities or countries
• Filter by your preferences

Spotlight Rotation

The map periodically highlights featured institutions with a gentle spotlight animation. These are curated selections showcasing diverse options—not paid placements.

Cinematic Flyovers

For an immersive experience, EUnify offers cinematic flyover animations:

• Tap the flyover button when viewing a city or campus
• Watch as the map smoothly zooms and pans to show key landmarks
• Flyovers highlight surrounding areas and points of interest

Filtering the Map

Use filters to narrow down what's shown on the map:

• By Country: Focus on specific EU member states
• By Institution Type: Universities, colleges, research institutions
• By Program Level: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD
• By Field of Study: Engineering, Medicine, Business, Arts, etc.

Accessing Filters

1. Tap the filter icon next to the search bar
2. Select your criteria
3. Tap "Apply" to update the map
4. Clear filters to show all markers again

Offline Map Access

The map and all institution data work completely offline. No internet connection is required to:

• Browse the map
• View institution details
• Access saved comparisons and checklists
• Take virtual campus tours
